Singles Conference
I am very excited to announce that we are in the planning stage of putting together a Singles Conference for the Fall of 2008. Presently, we are looking at the calendar for the best dates that can work within the region. The theme of the conference is A Divine Connection. The initial response from around the Michiana region has been very positive. As well, some of our sister churches in Canada are also excited about attending. I have a ‘dream team’ working with me as I endeavor to prepare a great conference. If you have questions, suggestions, or if you would just like to share your excitement about attending the first Michiana Singles Conference, you can email me at Singles@michianacogop.com or call me at 313-368-6954. I’d like to thank everyone in advance for your support as we wok together on this event. One of my favorite verses is Ephesians 3:20 – “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” I am expecting God to do great things. I hope to see you at the Conference.
Be Content
Often, people will question or make comments to me about my singleness. Someone once told me, “I need a man.” A need is something required to survive. I know women that have men in their lives and yet they still have unmet needs. I agree with Genesis 2:18 that says, “It is not good for man to be alone…”, but it does not say that if a man is alone he is going to die.
I want to encourage other single Christians with Philippians 4:11(NKJV) – “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” I enjoy being single. Many others are content to not have a spouse at this time in their life. Rather than focusing on how much happier you would be if married, ask God to help you to see the benefits of your singleness and be happy in those benefits. For me, one benefit is that I am free to be me in Christ.
Givers in the Household of Faith
Who should be one of the best givers in the Household of Faith? I believe it should be singles. According to I Corinthians 7:31, not having a spouse gives us a greater opportunity to care for the things that belong to the Lord. While single, we are able to give ourselves totally Lord. So singles, let us do the best giving in our single living. |
